peopleahead.com – another fish in the career site seas

June 11th, 2008

This morning I ran across PeopleAhead Has Forward-Looking Take on the Online Job Board - an article about the public launch of PeapleAhead.com.  XConomy is not a site I normally visit as I lean a bit more towards the tech side in my internet wandering, but when I saw a mention of a disruptive entry in the online job posting market, I perked up.  I had the same feeling all start-up folks get when they see something even remotely in their space.  ”Is it my idea?”  Well, no, they aren’t (phew!), but they are doing something kinda cool.

They’re trying to automate the process of finding matches between companies and potential employees.  Sure, this is nothing new, but they are trying to use additional, more fuzzy data points to help do it, rather than straight up query matches “WHERE company_wants_to_hire.accountant = person_is_a.accountant”.  This is cool.  I’ll be keeping an eye on this other Boston (well, Waltham) start-up.  Maybe we can all take down the Monsters in the room together …
